The leading tech firm specializing in local delivery services, Yango Delivery, has introduced Cargo Express, a ground-breaking initiative aimed at facilitating the transportation of bulky and heavy items across Africa. This new service addresses a critical need in the rapidly expanding e-commerce market by providing reliable and efficient delivery solutions for large items such as furniture, gardening tools, and household appliances, catering specifically to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the region.
Cargo Express emerges as a response to the challenges prevalent in the logistics sector, characterized by inefficiencies and opaque pricing models. What distinguishes Cargo Express is its commitment to offering a transparent and straightforward service with fixed pricing, ensuring customers are aware of the costs upfront without any hidden fees. Upon booking, customers receive real-time updates on the status of their delivery through push notifications and can track the movement of their items on the Yango app’s map.
Anticipating a significant increase in employment within the logistics sector, as projected by the International Labour Organization (ILO), Yango Delivery is leveraging its advanced technological platform to empower its delivery partners. By providing access to cutting-edge tools for enhanced route planning and navigation, Yango aims to improve efficiency, potentially leading to higher earnings for delivery partners and contributing to the economic development of Africa.
Ireoluwa Obatoki, Yango Delivery’s Head of Business Development for Africa, expressed the company’s commitment to revolutionizing urban delivery services through technological innovation. Obatoki stated, “Launching Cargo Express solidifies our dedication to providing logistics companies’ local partners and couriers with new avenues for increased revenue while maintaining clear, transparent pricing in the African delivery market. With the growing demand for competent delivery services for bulky items due to the rise of online shopping, Cargo Express is poised to meet this need by offering a reliable and straightforward solution.”
Cargo Express expands Yango’s diverse range of services, complementing its existing offerings such as ride-hailing (Yango), motorbike-based light package delivery (Yango Delivery), and food delivery services (Yango Deli). This new addition enriches the Yango app’s Delivery section, featuring a selection of vehicles tailored for transporting large items. Initially launching in key cities such as Abidjan, Accra, and Lusaka, Cargo Express aims to redefine the logistics landscape by providing efficient solutions for transporting bulky items across the continent. Customers can also benefit from additional features such as assistance from movers and complimentary loading and unloading time, further enhancing the convenience and accessibility of the service.
