X Introduces Video Reply Feature for iOS Users

X, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced a new video reply feature for iOS users, allowing people to respond to posts with recorded video overlays instead of text alone. The update adds built-in editing options, including green screen, split screen and picture-in-picture modes. Users can choose how they appear alongside the original post when recording a response. X said it plans to expand the feature to more users over time.

New Tools Expand Video Responses

The green screen option lets users replace the background of their video while responding to a post. Split screen displays both the original post and the user’s reaction side by side, while picture-in-picture places a smaller reaction video over the original content. The company said the tools give creators more ways to respond to posts without relying only on text replies or reposts.

The update also introduces automatic multilingual captions to make video replies more accessible to a wider audience. Users can edit their recordings before publishing by trimming clips, splitting sections and rearranging footage within the app. X said the editing tools are designed to simplify video creation without requiring external software.

The company also sees the feature as a way to encourage more original content on the platform. By integrating video creation tools directly into X, users can record, edit and publish responses without switching between multiple applications.

The feature is currently available on iOS devices. X has not confirmed when it will release the video reply tools for Android users.
