Vumatel Announces Annual Price

Vumatel, one of South Africa’s leading fibre network providers, has recently disclosed its annual price adjustments, impacting subscribers across various speed packages. Effective from May 1, 2024, customers on lower-speed packages will witness a monthly fee increase ranging between R20 and R50.

The revelation of these price modifications came to light following notifications issued by Cool Ideas to its clientele last Friday. The notice from Cool Ideas informed subscribers about an impending pricing adjustment due to Vumatel’s annual review. It emphasized efforts to keep the price hike minimal, citing it as a direct consequence of Vumatel’s pricing review.

In response to Cool Ideas’ notifications regarding the 100Mbps package, MyBroadband reached out to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) for a comprehensive breakdown of the updated pricing across various Vumatel packages.

According to the details obtained, customers with Cool Ideas availing symmetrical 50Mbps, 100Mbps, and 200Mbps connections will witness a monthly fee increase ranging between R20 and R40. Meanwhile, subscribers on the asymmetrical 500Mbps package will experience a R50 increment in their monthly charges starting May 1.

However, customers subscribed to the two asymmetrical 1Gbps packages on Vumatel’s network will remain unaffected by the price hike. Instead, subscribers to the 1Gbps/250Mbps line can anticipate a monthly reduction of R40, while those on the 1Gbps/500Mbps package will continue to pay the current rate of R2,429 per month.

Additionally, MyBroadband has also gathered insights into the pricing adjustments by Afrihost and Vox on the Vumatel network. Afrihost intends to modify the pricing of three of its packages, with subscribers on the symmetrical 50Mbps package facing an increase to R757 from the current R727. Customers on the 200/200Mbps and 500/200Mbps plans will also experience a R50 monthly fee increase.

Vox customers, on the other hand, seem to bear the brunt of the adjustments, with price increments ranging from R20 to R100.

It’s crucial to note that the disclosed prices are specific to Cool Ideas, Afrihost, and Vox, and adjustments may vary for other ISPs operating on the Vumatel network.

As Vumatel implements its annual price adjustments, subscribers are urged to stay informed about the changes to ensure transparency and clarity regarding their internet service costs.
