TCL introduces SQD-Mini LED TVs and smart home lineup in South Africa

TCL has introduced its SQD-Mini LED range in South Africa as part of its latest display technology rollout. The launch brings SQD-Mini LED (Super Quantum Dot Mini LED) to the local market for the first time, paired with full-range audio by Bang & Olufsen. The system combines refined backlighting and upgraded quantum dot materials to improve brightness control, contrast, and colour accuracy. Alongside the TV range, TCL also expanded its connected ecosystem with new Google Smart Home air conditioners and home appliances.

Next-Generation SQD-Mini LED Technology

At the centre of the launch is SQD-Mini LED, which builds on QD-Mini LED by improving the backlight structure, quantum dot layer, and colour filtering at panel level. This results in stronger brightness, deeper contrast, and more accurate colour reproduction. Unlike RGB Mini LED systems that modify the light source itself, SQD-Mini LED uses a blue LED backlight combined with upgraded quantum dots and TCL’s Ultra Colour Filter, reducing colour overlap and improving image consistency.

C7L and C8L Lead the 2026 TV Range

The C7L and C8L models headline TCL’s 2026 television lineup and showcase the new display system. The C7L is designed for broad household use, offering strong local dimming control, high brightness output, and thousands of dimming zones that reduce blooming around bright objects. It is suited for sport, gaming, and high-resolution streaming, while audio is tuned with Bang & Olufsen to deliver clear dialogue and balanced sound.

The C8L steps further, with more dimming zones and enhanced processing that delivers finer shadow detail, improved contrast separation, and more stable performance across changing lighting conditions. Both models are designed for large-screen viewing and are optimised for bright living spaces where consistent picture quality matters.

Bang and Olufsen Audio Integration

Across the C7L and C8L range, TCL has integrated Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio systems. The focus is on clear dialogue, controlled bass, and wider sound coverage, supporting films, sport, and gaming with a more balanced audio experience.

Expanding the Smart Home Ecosystem

Beyond televisions, TCL is growing its smart home range with appliances designed around connectivity and efficiency. The C5 washing machine range, including the C512WDG and C512FLG models, features Super Drum Technology and Wi-Fi control through the TCL Home app, allowing users to monitor and adjust cycles remotely. The machines automatically optimise water use, temperature, and cycle time based on load size, while offering multiple fabric-specific programmes.

TCL has also introduced the P774SBGWD 627-litre side-by-side refrigerator with water dispenser, alongside its FreshIN 3.0 air conditioning system. FreshIN 3.0 draws in fresh outdoor air while filtering indoor air through a multi-layer system designed to reduce dust, odours, and airborne particles.

According to TCL, the 2026 lineup reflects its goal of making higher-end display and home technology more accessible in South Africa.
