European venture capital firm Speedinvest has introduced its first dedicated fund targeting early growth-stage startups across the Middle East and Africa. With over EUR1.2 billion (US$1.4 billion) in assets under management and a presence across EMEA, the firm invests across the full startup lifecycle, from pre-seed to growth. Its model combines long-term capital with immediate access to a broad international network of corporate partners, industry specialists, and follow-on investors, helping companies scale more effectively.
The fund has attracted support from major institutional players, including Qatar Investment Authority, Mubadala Investment Company, and European Investment Bank. This initiative formalises Speedinvest’s growing footprint in the region and signals a deliberate expansion beyond its European base.
The strategy is underpinned by dedicated funding, on-the-ground teams, and long-term partnerships. Together, these elements are designed to strengthen ties between European and MEA startup ecosystems while supporting companies looking to scale internationally.
Long Term Commitment to Regional Growth
Commenting on the development, Oliver Holle, CEO and managing partner of Speedinvest, said the backing reflects strong confidence in both the region’s potential and the firm’s investment approach. He noted that the company aims to deploy patient, sector-focused capital to support founders building globally competitive businesses.
Holle also highlighted the growing importance of cross-regional collaboration. In a more fragmented global environment, he said, stronger connections between Europe and key markets such as the Middle East and Africa are becoming essential for founders, investors, and innovation ecosystems.
