Rivalry Between South Africa and Nigeria Escalates Bolt

Recently, South African citizens have been pulling pranks on Bolt drivers in Nigeria and cancelling them upon arrival.

The competition between Nigeria and South Africa has reached a new level, where Nigerians noticed South Africa trending on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

A video showed a South African man mocking a Nigerian driver named Kotoro-Ola for canceling a ride. There have been reports of screenshots going around on the internet, which shows South Africans booking Bolt rides in Nigeria with the intention of causing unethical and financial harm to the drivers.

According to reports, this whole ordering rides started in South Africa where the intension was to target Nigerian e-hailing drivers, by sending them on false errands to locations only to cancel the rides when the driver gets there or has been waiting a long time.

This situation was triggered by recent events with Chidimma Adetshina after she auditioned for Miss South Africa.

The citizens of Nigeria also took it to their hands to pull the same stunt of wasting South Africa driver’s effort and fuel, they also went to an extent on having conversations with them.

In one instance, a fake Nigerian rider said that he was looking to transport chopped human body parts to which the South African driver agreed to help him transport the dismembered bodies of two people for a higher fee. It led to a point where the driver was advising the Nigerian rider on the best way to package butchered bodies in a black bag, adding to that it is easier that way.

The e-hailing service Bolt has stated that they have restricted inter country ride requests after an involvement of South Africans and Nigerians after this whole situation.
