Craydel Enters Ghana's Student Recruitment Market
Pan-African education technology startup Craydel has entered the Ghanaian market, adding another destination to its growing presence across the continent as more African students pursue higher education abroad. The expansion gives the startup operations in eight African countries Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Tanzania and Ghana. It is also Craydel’s fifth market launch since late 2024.
Ghana is one of West Africa’s largest outbound student markets, making it an attractive destination for education technology businesses that help students apply to universities overseas.
Growing Demand for Overseas Education
More than 400,000 African students leave the continent each year to study abroad, creating demand for digital platforms that simplify university searches, applications and admissions.
Founded in 2021 by Manish Sardana, John Nguru and Shayne Aman Premji, Craydel enables students to search, compare and apply to universities using an AI-powered matching platform. The startup says it works with more than 600 universities across 50 study destinations worldwide.
Chief Executive Officer Manish Sardana said Ghana continues to generate strong demand for international education opportunities.
“Ghana has one of Africa’s strongest traditions of investing in education and global talent,” Sardana said. “We have seen tremendous demand from Ghanaian students looking for trusted guidance as they explore study opportunities abroad.”
Building Local Partnerships
As part of its expansion, the startup plans to introduce student advisory services in Ghana while working with schools and universities across the country.
Craydel earns revenue by placing students at universities that pay recruitment commissions for successful enrolments. The model allows overseas institutions to reach prospective students in African markets without building large recruitment teams on the ground.
The startup has raised more than US$2.5 million from investors, including Enza Capital and Angaza Capital, and competes with international education platforms such as ApplyBoard and IDP Education.
