Nigeria based Clea, a stablecoin powered cross-border payments startup, has launched Vendor Payments, a new feature that allows businesses to pay international suppliers, auction platforms and shipping companies directly through its platform. Clea provides African businesses with access to foreign currency and infrastructure for making international supplier payments. The platform combines stablecoin settlement with compliance tools and trade-focused financial services aimed at businesses operating across global markets.

The startup has processed more than US$20 million in transaction volume within six months of emerging from stealth in December 2025. Its Vendor Payments feature has also been adopted by more than 50 businesses since its pilot launch.

Clea Simplifies International Supplier Payments

Vendor Payments allows Clea customers to pay supported vendors directly from their accounts. The feature currently includes vehicle auction platforms Copart and IAA, giving businesses a way to settle payments linked to international vehicle purchases without managing separate payment processes.

Customers select a vendor, enter the required payment reference, such as a buyer number, lot number or invoice, and authorise the transaction. Clea has preconfigured vendor information within the platform, allowing payments to be processed without customers having to set up each recipient manually. The company plans to add more suppliers and payment destinations as the service expands.

The launch follows growing demand from African businesses that are increasing their participation in international trade while dealing with payment processes that can involve multiple providers and currencies. Clea founder and CEO Sheriff Adedokun said Vendor Payments is designed to reduce some of the complexity involved in paying international suppliers and trading partners.
