Moroccan Startup WATT.MA Launches EV Charging Management Platform
Moroccan climate-tech startup WATT.MA has launched its Charge Point Management System, giving charging operators, site owners and fleet managers a platform to manage and generate revenue from electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The platform went live on 10 August 2026 and is now onboarding customers and charging partners as the company expands its presence in Morocco’s growing electric mobility market.
WATT.MA’s software is built around the OCPP 1.6J open standard, allowing it to work with compatible charging hardware from different manufacturers. This gives operators more flexibility when building charging networks without being tied to a single hardware provider. The platform also integrates local payment systems for the Moroccan market, allowing charging operators to manage services and payments through the same system.
Building a Local EV Charging Business
WATT.MA uses a platform-based business model built around its own software, SaaS fees and revenue-sharing arrangements with charging partners. The company developed this approach through programmes focused on climate technology and entrepreneurship in Morocco, including GreenUp Morocco, an incubation initiative launched by Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the RES4Africa Foundation, in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and with contributions from the Enel Foundation. Through the programme, WATT.MA refined its commercial model and gained a better understanding of Morocco’s climate-tech, regulatory and energy environment, with Prince Marfo representing the company during the incubation programme.
Expanding Its Climate-Tech Network
WATT.MA also participated in the fourth edition of the African Youth Climate Hub (AYCH), an initiative of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection that supports youth-led climate solutions across Africa. The company was the only Moroccan startup selected for the cohort, giving it an opportunity to refine its market strategy and build relationships within the continent’s climate-tech sector. At the AYCH Demo Day on 10 July 2026, Nizar El Ghanbaz represented WATT.MA during the company’s pitch.
WATT.MA is now working with organisations across Morocco’s energy and climate ecosystem as it expands commercially. These include the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, AMEE, IRESEN, ONEE and Masen, with engagements covering research, regulation, infrastructure and the wider development of EV charging in Morocco.
“The partnerships and relationships we built through GreenUp Morocco, UM6P and AYCH give us confidence in our ability to bring WATT.MA to mass-market adoption,” said Prince Marfo.
