Key Quotes – Marius van Rensburg – CEO Melon Business:

Regarding the Importance of Differentiation:

“Are you putting something differentiated on the table that would really sway an existing customer, an MVNO to come across to your network? And, you know, my honest assessment of the South African market, it’s a bit of a mix bag. I think a lot of the MVNO’s have replicated what the likes of the big telcos are achieving within the markets. And, you know, our view is that that is purely not enough”.

Regarding Expansion:

“We live in South Africa, we breathe the air and it’s obviously an exceptionally important market for us. we built the business with that in mind (expansion). For us, it’s really how do we ensure that we care-take the market, we grow it and …..unlock the opportunity that there is within the South African market. But the fact that our platforms and our tech are all cloud hosted, it really does make it simple for us to evolve into other markets where it makes sense”.
