Anushka, an innovative humanoid robot has been created on a low budget. The engineering college students at the Indian Express Krishna Institute of Engineering and Technology in Ghaziabad came up with this masterpiece.
Anushka was first unveiled in March 2024, when she made a buzz in the media by being the first humanoid robot independent of movement to be developed in north India.
The robot was first designed to welcome visitors, give instructions, and answer questions. The Creator of Anushka, Piyush Khanna sees the robot as more of a robotic receptionist but could also be used in both the healthcare assistance and consultancy sector. This is a way of showing a future where humans and machines can coexist.
The cost to make the humanoid robot was Rs2 Lakh (R43,457.28). Some of the equipment used to create Anushka was taken from the local junkyard and help from generative AI.
Anushka uses a master-slave structure where the processor acts as a brain directing multiple micro-controllers and servo motors. She can understand over 20 languages through its natural language processing (NLP) function.
She is designed with the ability to perform 50 hand gestures, and 30 eye gestures, along with jaw and neck movements. Anushka is also equipped with computer vision, which is used for facial recognition, which shows that she can identify a person 10 meters away with high resolution and a 30-megapixel webcam.
Anushka was developed with artificial intelligence which includes technologies from OpenAI.
