In a strategic move, MTN Group has announced the appointment of Ali Monzer as the new CEO for its operations in South Sudan, effective April 1, 2024. The company revealed this development today, highlighting Monzer’s extensive experience within the MTN Group and the telecommunications industry.

Ali Monzer, an MTN Group insider, has held progressively senior positions within the organization, culminating in his most recent role as the Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN Uganda. With over 23 years of telecommunications industry experience, Monzer is well-prepared to lead MTN South Sudan into its next phase of growth.

According to MTN, Monzer has a proven track record in operational efficiency, cost optimization, market growth, and enhancing customer experiences. His qualifications include a master’s degree in computer communication engineering, complemented by relevant industry certifications.

Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO, expressed confidence in Monzer’s capabilities, stating, “His wealth of experience and proven track record in technology and operations make him well-positioned to drive MTN South Sudan’s continued growth and success.”

Monzer’s appointment comes as he succeeds Gordian Kyomukama, who will be retiring from the MTN Group. Acknowledging Kyomukama’s contributions, Mupita added, “I wish to take this opportunity to thank Gordian Kyomukama for always displaying vigor, determination, and an exemplary work ethic in his role.”

As the new CEO for MTN South Sudan, Ali Monzer is expected to leverage his expertise to lead the company in adapting to the dynamic telecommunications landscape, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustained success in the region.
