TymeBank, has named Cheslyn Jacobs as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2026. Jacobs will succeed Karl Westvig, who will remain with the bank in an advisory capacity. Jacobs, a founding member of TymeBank, has been involved with the bank since its early stages and brings experience in both banking and business management.

TymeBank, has named Cheslyn Jacobs as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2026. Jacobs will succeed Karl Westvig, who will remain with the bank in an advisory capacity.
Jacobs, a founding member of TymeBank, has been involved with the bank since its early stages and brings experience in both banking and business management. The bank highlighted his knowledge of its operations and customer base as key factors in the leadership transition.
From January 2026, Jacobs and Westvig will collaborate over a three-month handover period to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining the bank’s strong growth trajectory. Chairman of TymeBank Holdings, Thabani Jali, acknowledged Westvig’s contributions, noting his key role in integrating Retail Capital into the Tyme ecosystem and helping to establish a robust foundation for the bank’s future development.
Focus on Growth, Innovation, and Market Position
The leadership change accentuates TymeBank’s continued focus on growth, innovation, and improving customer service. Jali said the change in leadership comes as the bank seeks to strengthen its market position and prepare for its next phase of expansion.
Jacobs holds a BCom in industrial psychology from the University of the Western Cape and a postgraduate diploma in business management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. His previous roles include positions at Standard Bank and Deloitte, giving him broad experience across banking and advisory services.
