Notably, Nigeria does not rank among the wealthiest African nations in terms of GDP per capita, as it records a figure of 2,184.40 U.S. dollars in 2022.

Egypt secures its position as the second-wealthiest African nation, boasting a GDP of 476.75 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. Remarkably, Egypt’s GDP is in close proximity to that of Nigeria, with a difference of just under a billion dollars. Additionally, Egypt outpaces Nigeria in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) with a value of 1.67 trillion current international dollars, ranking higher than Africa’s GDP leader, Nigeria. Furthermore, Egypt’s GDP per capita stands at 4,295.40 U.S. dollars, surpassing Nigeria’s GDP per capita. Nevertheless, Egypt’s GDP per capita falls short of South Africa’s, which holds the third spot in Africa’s wealth ranking.”
