TikTok, the widely popular video-sharing platform, has unveiled a new feature called ‘Account Check’ aimed at simplifying the account status verification process for creators. This feature allows creators to swiftly audit their accounts to determine if they are in good standing on TikTok.
The Account Check feature will provide creators with crucial information regarding their account status. It will indicate if access to certain features, such as comments or direct messaging, has been restricted due to violations. Additionally, creators can ascertain whether their content has been removed for breaching TikTok’s rules or has been restricted from appearing on the For You feed.
The introduction of the Account Check feature aligns with TikTok’s commitment to transparency and accountability. By empowering creators with insights into their account status, the platform aims to foster a better understanding of how content and behaviour may influence their standing on TikTok. Moreover, creators can appeal decisions if they believe the platform has erred in its judgment.
This new feature supplements the existing Account status page introduced last year, which details a creator’s video violations.
In conjunction with the Account Check feature, TikTok has also unveiled a Creator Code of Conduct, outlining the standards expected from creators participating in TikTok programs, features, events, and campaigns. These standards, in addition to the platform’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, are designed to uphold integrity and responsible behaviour both on and off the platform.
Adam Presser, TikTok’s Head of Operations, Trust, and Safety, emphasized the importance of these initiatives in promoting a safer and more transparent environment for TikTok’s diverse community. Presser stated, “We’ll continue to focus on helping our community, and in particular our creators, better understand what our rules are and how we enforce them to provide a safer experience for over a billion people on TikTok.”
In line with efforts to enhance community guidelines, TikTok is implementing a policy that temporarily renders an entire account ineligible for recommendation in the For You feed if a creator repeatedly violates standards. Such accounts will be harder to find in search results, and affected creators will receive notifications and the option to appeal.
TikTok’s commitment to fostering a positive and responsible community underscores its continued evolution as a leading platform for creative expression and engagement. Through features like Account Check and the Creator Code of Conduct, TikTok aims to empower creators while promoting a safer and more enjoyable experience for all users.
