Yoco Expands Beyond Payments with New Business Software
Yoco is expanding beyond its roots in payments. At its Yoco Next 2026 event in Johannesburg, the company introduced more than 20 new products and features, including accounting integrations, loyalty tools, industry-specific software and a new AI assistant. The releases reflect a growing focus on the wider operational challenges facing small businesses.
New Tools for Small Businesses
Yoco built its business by helping merchants accept card payments, but the company is now paying greater attention to other areas of business management. According to co-founder Carl Wazen, payments represent only one part of running a business. Many merchants also need to manage stock, customer records, bookings, online sales and accounting, frequently across multiple systems.
Among the new products is Yoco Connect, which links accounting software, inventory systems and e-commerce platforms. The company also introduced software tailored for retailers, restaurants, salons and wellness businesses. Another addition is Yoco AI, launched following the acquisition of Dyner.ai earlier this year. The tool analyses sales and customer information and identifies patterns that business owners may want to investigate further.
Entering a Broader Software Market
The announcements show how software providers are increasingly competing beyond payment services. Small businesses now use digital tools for stock management, customer engagement, bookings, accounting and financial administration. As a result, many business owners find themselves managing several platforms at the same time.
Many of the new products focus on connecting those functions and reducing the need to switch between separate systems throughout the day. That places Yoco in a broader section of the small business software market rather than one centred purely on payment processing.
Whether merchants adopt the additional services remains to be seen. What is clear is that the company is putting more attention on the wider operational demands facing small businesses, not just the transaction that takes place at the point of sale.
