PowerBall Draw 1738 completed successfully following mechanical malfunction

Tonight’s PowerBall Draw 1738 was completed successfully. The validated winning numbers were:

Following the PowerBall draw, a mechanical malfunction prevented the gate between the PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra machines from opening, which meant that the balls could not be released back into the chamber.

As the PowerBall draw had already been completed successfully, no further action was required in relation to that draw. In line with established emergency procedures, the PowerBall Xtra draw was conducted using the back-up draw machine and was completed successfully, without further incident.

“Because the draw is broadcast live and the machines are mechanical, incidents of this nature can occur. This is precisely why we practise our emergency procedures regularly and diligently,” said Juan Antonio Del Valle, Chief Lottery Officer.

“The entire process was monitored by our independent auditors, Deloitte, as well as a representative of the National Lotteries Commission. All parties were satisfied that the required procedures and protocols had been followed.”

The cameras remained focused on the set throughout the process. Both draws and their results have been validated, and the integrity and outcomes of the draws were not affected.

The broadcast ran for 8 minutes and 20 seconds, which was 3 minutes and 20 seconds longer than the scheduled five-minute draw period.
