In a bid to enhance convenience for its customers, Pick n Pay has rolled out a novel money transfer service, enabling seamless transactions between its 1,400 store outlets.
Termed as Pick n Pay Money Transfer, the service operates domestically within South Africa, offering affordability at a fixed rate of R8.00 per transaction. This initiative aims to cater to various financial needs of customers, ranging from remittances to bill payments and emergency fund access.
Customers can transfer amounts starting from a minimum of R50, with a cap set at R3,000 per transaction and a monthly ceiling of R25,000. The interoperable nature of this service ensures accessibility across all Pick n Pay supermarkets, Clothing stores, and Boxer stores nationwide.
Signing up for the service involves a straightforward registration process, requiring customers to present a valid ID document at any Pick n Pay store. Upon completion, each transaction generates a unique PIN, dispatched via SMS to the sender, facilitating immediate fund access for the recipient at any affiliated store.
Regardless of the amount transferred, a flat transaction fee of R8.00 applies uniformly to all senders. Absa will facilitate the smooth functioning of this service, reinforcing its reliability and security.
Commenting on this strategic move, Pick n Pay acknowledged the surging demand for money transfer services within South Africa. With a rapidly evolving landscape encompassing offerings from banks, retailers, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and emerging platforms, this initiative seeks to carve out a competitive edge in the market.
By leveraging its extensive network and strategic partnerships, Pick n Pay aims to address the evolving financial needs of South Africans, ensuring enhanced accessibility and affordability in money transfers.
