Network International, a foremost digital commerce enabler across the Middle East and Africa, has announced a strategic collaboration with Blu Penguin, a Ghana-based fintech and mobile money aggregator. Through this partnership, the two companies aim to enhance mobile money transaction capabilities via Network’s N-Genius payment terminals. As a result, this development marks a pivotal step towards expanding financial inclusion while also modernizing payment solutions in Ghana and the broader West African region.

Seamless Mobile Money Payments on Existing Terminals

With this alliance, Network International’s clients in Ghana can now accept mobile money payments from all providers using their existing N-Genius point-of-sale (POS) devices. Consequently, this integration strengthens Network’s role as a third-party payment processor (TPP) and, at the same time, broadens its service portfolio. Furthermore, it demonstrates the company’s commitment to responding to shifting market demands and evolving customer preferences.

Leaders Speak on the Impact of the Collaboration

Chinwe Uzoho, Regional Managing Director for Western Africa Processing at Network International, emphasized the importance of the collaboration. According to her, “Partnering with Blu Penguin solidifies our commitment to driving digital commerce and fostering financial inclusion. By enabling mobile money transactions on our N-Genius terminals, we deliver a seamless payment experience that serves both banked and unbanked populations, thereby offering businesses and financial institutions greater transactional flexibility.”

In agreement, Sebastian Yalley, Managing Director for Ghana Processing at Network International, described the partnership as a game-changer for Ghana’s payment ecosystem. Specifically, he explained, “By merging Blu Penguin’s robust mobile money processing with our state-of-the-art card infrastructure, we provide a unified merchant app that facilitates secure, accessible, and convenient payment options.”

Technology Integration to Simplify Transactions

Under this arrangement, Blu Penguin will integrate its mobile money technology with Network International’s acquiring infrastructure, therefore ensuring secure and efficient backend processing across major telecom networks. Moreover, Blu Penguin’s mobile-first approach already operational in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo simplifies payment transactions and thus increases access to digital payments for millions in the region.

A Broader Vision for Africa’s Payment Landscape

Tenu Awoonor, Founder of Blu Penguin, highlighted the broader implications of the partnership. He noted that “This collaboration goes beyond technology integration. It represents a strategic effort to enhance payment accessibility and convenience for merchants throughout Africa. By working with Network International, we equip banks and merchants with a versatile payment platform that consolidates multiple options into a single application. In doing so, we accelerate the adoption of digital payments, thereby supporting inclusive economic growth across the continent.”

Future Plans for Expansion Across Sub-Saharan Africa

At present, the initiative is in its rollout phase, but there are plans to extend mobile money payment acceptance to all financial institutions using Network International’s N-Genius terminals throughout Ghana. Ultimately, the goal is to expand this capability across Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring wider access to secure and flexible payment solutions.
