Mpumalanga Tourism Expo: Showcasing South Africa's Tourist Attractions

The Mpumalanga Tourism Expo, the annual event held every September in South Africa’s Mpumalanga Province, aims to promote domestic tourism and foster regional integration. Launched in 2021 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the expo provides a vital platform for showcasing various tourism products and services, serving as a catalyst for the sector’s recovery and growth.
The expo offers a unique opportunity for provincial tourism students to engage with exhibitors, gain insights into the industry, and witness ‘tourism in action.’ Since its inception, the event has seen significant growth. It began with 26 exhibitors in 2021, expanded to 36 in 2022, and is targeting 44 exhibitors in 2023.
Over the past two years, the Mpumalanga Tourism Expo has successfully raised awareness about the region’s diverse tourism offerings for both leisure and business visitors. All partners and stakeholders have benefited from extensive media coverage and publicity generated by the event.
Hosted at the Riverside Mall in Mbombela, the largest shopping mall in the province with over 29,000 monthly shoppers, the expo attracts a substantial audience. The event is organized by Jakada Holdings (PTY) LTD in partnership with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency.
The Mpumalanga Tourism Expo continues to strengthen its role as a key event in promoting and growing the tourism sector in South Africa, drawing attention to the region’s attractions and contributing to the overall economic development.
