EOH Holdings, the IT services group previously involved in state capture corruption during Jacob Zuma’s presidency, has announced significant changes to its board of directors. These changes come after an approach from shareholders regarding a succession plan for the EOH board, according to TechCentral.

Effective immediately, Andrew Mthembu has stepped down from his roles as interim CEO, chairman, and director of the board. Mthembu had been appointed interim CEO on April 1, following the departure of Stephen van Coller at the end of March. Van Coller had led a governance clean-up at EOH.

The board has decided on the following key changes:

Andrew Mthembu will resign from all his positions at EOH and its subsidiaries, including executive chairman and interim CEO.

Non-independent director Jabu Moleketi will replace Mthembu as board chairman.

Fatima Newman, who collaborated closely with Van Coller on governance issues at EOH, will step down as an executive director but will continue as CEO of EOH-owned EasyHQ.

Bharti Harie will resign as an independent non-executive director.

Additionally, the board has appointed:

Veronica Motloutsi as an independent non-executive director.

Dennis Venter as a non-independent non-executive director.

Rhys Summerton as a non-independent non-executive director.

These changes are part of a strategic move to address shareholder concerns and ensure effective governance at EOH.

De la Rey, currently CEO of iOCO South Africa, EOH’s largest operating subsidiary, will take on a more prominent role. He has been integral to EOH’s restructuring efforts and has served on the EOH executive committee since 2019. Before joining EOH, De la Rey spent five years at Absa as CEO of distribution coverage and customer channels and another five years at Standard Bank as head of group real estate and head of channel development.

EOH Holdings remains committed to strengthening its governance and operational structure, paving the way for future growth and stability in the IT services sector.
