First Bank of Nigeria, the country’s leading financial institution, has inaugurated its newest Digital Experience Centre in Lagos, situated at the prestigious Banana Island. This state-of-the-art facility empowers customers to conduct all their banking activities digitally, eliminating the need for human intervention.
The Banana Island Centre marks the fourth of its kind, following the successful establishment of similar centers in Abuja, Ibadan, and Victoria Island. According to Adesola Adeduntan, the CEO of First Bank, these Digital Experience Centres symbolize the bank’s commitment to deeply embedding itself within the communities it serves and becoming an integral part of society.
In acknowledging the pivotal role played by Adewale Oluwatubo, General Manager of Biporal—the host of the facility—over the past decade, Adeduntan emphasized that the centre caters not only to high-net-worth individuals residing in the estate but also to anyone with access to its premises.
“Our inauguration today marks the launch of a world-class digital experience centre, where both residents and non-residents with access to this esteemed estate can seamlessly conduct their banking transactions without human intervention. Whether it’s transferring funds or issuing cards, all banking activities can now be performed effortlessly,” stated Adeduntan.
Emphasizing the significance of this initiative for the bank, Adeduntan highlighted that it aligns with one of the bank’s core pillars: surpassing customer expectations through technological innovation.
“As part of our bank’s transformation journey initiated about seven or eight years ago, we have heavily invested in technology to consistently exceed our customers’ expectations. Specifically, the rollout of digital experience centres enables our customers to transact with us conveniently, without the need for human assistance,” he explained.
Adeduntan emphasized the bank’s commitment to continuously delighting its customers by facilitating transactions from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, for those who prefer in-person interactions at branches, First Bank is dedicated to providing world-class environments and platforms for seamless transactions.
Highlighting the unique offerings of the digital experience centre, Adeduntan underscored the speedy issuance of ATM cards, which can be completed in just three minutes. Furthermore, the centre features a teller-cash recycler, enabling hassle-free cash deposits into both personal and third-party accounts.
Callistus Obetta, First Bank’s Group Executive for Technology, Digital Innovation, and Banking Service, reiterated the bank’s commitment to providing personalized banking services seamlessly. He emphasized that the Digital Experience Centres blend physical and digital elements to create welcoming environments for users.
Regarding cybersecurity measures, Obetta assured customers that robust protocols are in place to safeguard their funds, including biometric authentication and cutting-edge security systems.
Looking ahead, First Bank announced plans to unveil five additional digital experience centres nationwide by year’s end. These centres will be strategically located to cater to the needs of the bank’s diverse customer base, whether residential or business-oriented.
