Enviro Automotive is gearing up to unveil the most budget-friendly electric vehicle (EV) yet in the South African market. Originating from China, the Dayun Yuehu will undergo a rebranding as the Dayun S5 Mini SUV upon its anticipated launch in South Africa by the end of 2024. This compact SUV, designed to accommodate four passengers, will feature a 31.7kWh ternary lithium battery, offering an impressive range of 330km and reaching a top speed of 100km/h, making it an ideal choice for urban commuting.

Innovative Features and Modern Design

The Dayun S5 Mini SUV boasts a sleek interior equipped with modern amenities, including a touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, and digital instrument panel. Emphasizing convenience, the vehicle offers central locking, electric windows, and remote-operated air conditioning via a mobile app, allowing for pre-entry vehicle start-up.

Comprehensive Service Plan and Competitive Pricing

Enviro Automotive, renowned for its range of last-mile delivery vehicles, plans to launch the Dayun S5 with a three-year or 60,000km service plan and warranty. Priced below R400,000, the Dayun S5 aims to become South Africa’s most affordable EV, significantly undercutting the current market leader, the GWM Ora, priced at R687,000.

Positive Reception and Future Prospects

Sales representative Francois Malan has confirmed the company’s discussions with several interested firms regarding vehicle purchases, indicating a promising reception for the Dayun S5 in the South African market. As Enviro Automotive prepares for the official launch, anticipation is high for the arrival of this cost-effective and environmentally friendly electric SUV, which promises to make electric mobility more accessible to a broader range of South African consumers.
