Citroën Basalt confirmed for SA

Citroen has announced that they will be launching their Basalt in South Africa. The Basalt is said to arrive in the first half of 2025.

The Citroen Basalt was inspired by its sibling cars the C3 and C3 Aircross. This is the model we will see with the fine design of a Coupé, the practicality and robustness of a raised SUV, and the balance and spaciousness of a family car.

The Citroen “SUV Coupe” was developed with the involvement of teams from India and South America.

The Basalt will likely implement Stellantis’ well-known 1.2-liter turbo-triple engine, also used in the C3 Aircross, and might be used in lower-end models with a natural engine of similar size and cylinder count. The turbocharged three-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, generates 81 kW and 205 N.m of torque, whereas naturally triple engine produces 61 kW and 115 N.m.

The inside of the Citroen Basalt is set to feature advanced technology and luxury. One standout feature is the 10.25-inch touchscreen entertainment system, which offers smooth wireless smartphone integration. Additional features consist of a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming IRVM, and ventilated front seats, all aimed at improving the driving experience.

All models of Citroen have safety features which include six standard airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, and tyre pressure. The outside of the Basalt will have LED taillights, flared wheel arches, and a broad radiator grille.

We will learn more about the new Basalt when it is officially revealed and has landed in South Africa.
