Business Tech Africa – Launches the Pan-African Business Sentiment Index
Today is a new milestone for our African focussed business news site, as we launch a new business index that we believe will add a fresh dimension to the African Business Landscape.
The Pan African Business Sentiment Index or PABSI, uses a rich data set, combining 15 critical indicators, which includes GDP growth, inflation, currency stability, FDI, startup funding, export performance, corporate earnings, political and social stability, and more. to provide a clear rating of African states and the business on the continent as a whole.
PABSI delivers a single, easy-to-understand score for the entire continent as well as for key individual countries. This rating method has been applied to the past twelve month period to provide a trend line context.
Who is The PABSI Report Built for?
The report provides a clear view of what business conditions are via a weather pattern analogy.
Using a simple and intuitive “weather-style” forecast analogy, PABSI translates complex economic data into a clear, practical outlook:
– Sunny = Strong, favourable business conditions
– Partly Cloudy = Generally positive business conditions
– Temperate = Okay, but caution advised for investors or Business entry into the market
– Cloudy with showers = Uncertain and volatile Business environment
– Cloudy with Storm Weather Conditions = Difficult conditions
– Severe Weather = Great volatility and difficult business operating environment

Our goal is simple: to democratise high-quality business intelligence across Africa. PABSI is built for the entrepreneur’s business founder or anyone who needs to make better decisions about hiring, investment, expansion, or risk management.
The report is set to be updated monthly and in the near future, we will also be looking to introduce more granular regional and sector-level insights available for a small fee, further empowering African businesses with actionable intelligence.
PABSI has been built to be more than simply another report. PABSI is a practical tool created by Africans, for Africa, to support sustainable business growth and economic development across the continent.
